Our Story
Four decades of bakery, three neighbourhoods, one community.
Where it began
Richlea Bakery opened in Richmond, British Columbia in 1982 — a neighbourhood bakery built on a simple idea: make things properly, and make them worth coming back for.
In 1994 the bakery moved to Ladner, where it became part of the fabric of the community — the place people picked up a box of donuts on a Saturday morning and ordered the cake that sat in the middle of the table.
In 2026 Richlea opened in Steveston Village, back in Richmond, where the story started more than forty years earlier.
Our timeline
- 1982 — Richlea Bakery begins in Richmond, BC.
- 1994 — Richlea moves to Ladner.
- 2026 — Richlea opens its Steveston Village location in Richmond.
What we make
Custom cakes are the heart of what we do — birthdays, celebrations, showers and weddings, designed with the customer and decorated by hand. Alongside them sit the bakery favourites: donuts and cronuts, pastries, savoury pies and rolls, bars, tarts, cookies and cupcakes, with fresh batches throughout the week.
Two neighbourhoods
You’ll find us on 48th Avenue in Ladner and on Second Avenue in Steveston Village. Both are neighbourhood bakeries, and both are somewhere you can walk in for a coffee and a donut or sit down and plan a wedding cake.
